China
First, it is hard for Americans to imagine what a huge country this is in terms of population. Slightly smaller than the USA geographically, it has a population more than four times larger than our country. Where do all those people live? In their astounding urban centers. Imagine a city with over three times the number of people who live in New York City—that’s Shanghai. Beijing is twice as populated as NYC. But even more remarkable, there are literally several dozen cities, each of which is as populous as the Big Apple! When touring China, expect to be stunned by a rich cultural experience, delicious cuisine, and a mix of historical and modern attractions. Be prepared for some language barriers and be careful of governmental controls, but a smile and a few basic phrases in Mandarin can go a long way! Embrace the bustling energy of the cities and take time to savor the unique charm of each destination:
